Gîte
A gîte is a furnished, self-contained holiday home, often in the countryside, rented by the week, the weekend or the night.
It differs from a chambre d’hôtes (a room in the owner’s home) and from a hotel. The Gîtes de France label rates gîtes from 1 to 5 épis according to comfort and facilities.
A large gîte welcomes a large group, often from 15 people upwards.
